Client Bill of Rights

Whether or not you have filled out a pre-booking survey, the below serve to inform you what to expect when you schedule w/ Elizabeth Phelan Organization.

I am entitled to...

What's covered

Consult:

Every consult is 60 minutes & is measured as 1-message-per-minute. For example, a 60 minute consult means you can send 30 messages, & receive 30 responses. It does not matter whether these are texts or emails. Zoom is also available, but will cut @ exactly 40 minutes. Use your consult time to discuss your goals for your space, send photos, ask questions, & request material purchases. The more information you can send, the better I will perform.

Labor:

Any portion of your consult or aftercare can be converted to labor if you prefer. Labor includes Megan on-site doing the work of refreshing your space & listening to your feedback. Labor comes in 1, 2, & 3 hour offerings. To use more labor time for the same price, plan to convert your consult or aftercare into labor time.

Aftercare:

Aftercare is also measured as 1-message-per-minute. 30-minutes of aftercare means you can send 15 messages & receive 15 responses. In addition, you will receive instructions, legends, &/or GoPro footage of your refresh depending upon your pre-booking selections & your consult. You are entitled to all of the tools it takes to learn how your belongings work in their new spaces, & considering what will work best for you before & after the project is part of teaching you how to stay organized.

Material purchases:

The most obvious tools are provided for free: handwritten labels & a limited number of bankers boxes to make sense of your space. If your project requires new shelves, new furniture, or new storage bins, this should be addressed during the consult & Megan can install these pieces. Megan will make the purchases & you will reimburse for them.
Note: To reduce our impact on landfills, SECONDHAND purchases will be presumed unless it is directly stated that all-new items must be in use. Secondhand purchases will be clean before installation.

Instructions:

It is absolutely going to raise your cortisol temporarily when you are adjusting to the change in your space. While you will be excited @ 1st when you see the final product, this product will only help you if you learn to use your belongings the way they have been organized. You will receive explanation & instruction throughout the labor process, should you choose to be present. You are also entitled to a legend that codifies where your belongings are. The most-prized instructions are in the GoPro footage, which is a complete record of the changes made in your space in real time.

Footage:

You have the right to opt in or out of GoPro Footage. You have the right to opt into the footage but out of its use on this website & social media platforms, however; footage that you do not allow to be shared online will not be sent to you. It will instead be used only to support your aftercare. If you choose to opt into use of the footage on this website & social media, no identifying markers of your space such as faces, addresses, or documents will be disseminated anywhere. Everything else that constitutes the interiority of your space may be used to promote the business.

What's not covered

Harassment:

If you have chosen a 1-hour appointment type, & we exchange more than 60 messages during consult &/or more than 30 messages during aftercare, this is an abuse. The same is true for all appointment types. Please follow the guidelines as they have been explained to you.

Additionally, while I am in your space, you will not harass me, & I will not harass you. You & I will co-opt Justice Stewart's famous definition to understand this term: "I shall not today attempt further to define the kinds of [behavior] I understand to be embraced within that shorthand description, and perhaps I could never succeed in intelligibly doing so. But I know it when I see it."

Free labor:

I will work in your space on your project for as long as we have agreed to. I will leave when that time is up, & if more time is needed, we will discuss how to provide it to you. Repeat customers will have their costs reduced by 1/3rd. Repeat customers who write truthful reviews, as well as generate referral business for Elizabeth Phelan Organization will have their costs reduced by 2/3rds.

I do not provide cleaning, junk hauling, or photography services, although I do have referrals if you need any of these. Each client may fill 1 laundry basket each w/ donations, recycling, & trash, which I am willing to take from the site.

Instant replies:

I do not use my phone while in the presence of others, nor while driving. This means that while we are in your appointment, I will not disrespect you by coordinating w/ other potential clients. This also means I will not answer texts, emails, or phone calls while I am driving or socializing. If you cannot wait a few hours or an entire business day for a response, you will be using up your own Consult or Aftercare time by messaging repeatedly.
